Engaging and Retaining Substance-Involved Families
Substance-using clients can be difficult to engage and challenging to retain. Home visitors need steady support and supervision while working with this population. This presentation explores the delicate dance of engaging and retaining substance-involved families, while motivating clients to consider treatment options and regularly engage in program supports. Participants will be provided with an overview on substance use disorders, current trends, and treatment options in Florida. Participants will learn how to shape and adapt engagement techniques and client interactions to align with a client’s change process. Supervisors and Program Managers will increase their understanding of their critical role in providing reflective supervision, guidance and support to home visitors as they seek to engage and retain this challenging population.
