Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month long campaign will feature events across Florida including pinwheel gardens, public awareness activities and Wear Blue Day. Pinwheels for Prevention is a national campaign to raise awareness and support for community services and public policies that prioritize healthy child, family and community development.

The Pinwheels for Prevention annual kick-off event and press conference will be held April 3, 2018. We are honored to, once again, have First Lady Anne Scott host the event in Tallahassee at the Governor's Mansion. This year's speakers include the Florida Department of Children and Families Assistant Secretary of Child Welfare, JoShonda Guerrier, CEO of Heartland for Children, Teri Saunders and Chief Child Advocate and Director of the Office of Adoption and Child Protection, Zack Gibson.  Please plan to attend this fun and exciting event!

You may continue to place pinwheel and resource book orders until March 9. Remember, all non-profit organizations receive a discounted price on pinwheels so contact Nydia Ntouda at (850) 921-4494, ext. 202 or nntouda@ounce.org to receive your discount code. As always, resource books (caregiver guides) are available to direct service agencies at no cost!

New for 2018!
We have added a Pinwheel Map this year to our website which provides a pinwheel icon and click-thru to all our CAP Month partners across Florida. To view our map visit, www.ounce.org/CAPMonth.html . If you don't see your location and you have placed a pinwheel or resource book order, please let us know.

The partner Toolkit has been revised and improved in order to offer helpful information for print media by providing talking points about the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign. We have also included 30 images (one for each day) to be used on social media for the month of April. To access the tool kit visit, www.ounce.org/CAP_toolkit.html
Please join us on April 6 for Wear Blue Day 2018. Wearing blue is a simple way to show support of child abuse prevention efforts throughout Florida. Encourage partners and friends to wear blue and post photos of your crew to Facebook. We look forward to seeing your posts!
thank you
...for your efforts to keep children safe and promote positive parenting in our state!
